Over the years and as we enter our 16th season here in France, we have been approached probably over one hundred times by various lake owners who would like us to market their lake and carp fishing. In the early years we would check out these venues but it was always the same, they simply did not hit the standard our clients required. Either stocking levels fell far short of acceptable, the accommodation was well below the standard necessary or the setting was just not good enough. Sometimes it was all three. Sometimes it was the owner who thought that carp fishing was a fast way of making money and we were quick to realise that in some cases these people had very little angling experience or indeed, never fished in their lives. Our operation demands complete knowledge of angling, fisheries management and integrity towards its customers. On this basis we decided that as it was our name at risk we could not afford to take on venues that we considered to be below the high standards we set ourselves.
Enter the season of 2006 and a guy called Doug Summers. I had known Doug and wife Sue for many years and had always been much taken by Doug's angling abilities, his knowledge of fish together with his own personal high standards. Having been the former secretary and architect of many innovations of Wheelock Angling Society in Sandbach, Cheshire over the years. This man knows his angling. He should do with over 45 years of angling experience behind him! I feel sure that of the hundreds of people who already know Doug, they to, would say the same.
Doug and Sue purchased this superb property in October 2004 and completed their initial move from the U.K. to France around the same time. Not wanting to rush things and knowing a proper long term venture takes time, he decided not to open this lake until he himself had it to the standard he required. Personal Best Angling Holidays were there to help and advise if necessary, it wasn't. Doug is a man who can stand on his own two feet! No lies regard stocking (as we have seen so many times in the past), no half measures with accommodation, the most beautiful of settings, and the most tranquil of two and a half acre lakes. Everything was now in place.
Enter Personal Best Angling Holidays who for the first time in sixteen years had total faith and belief in a project such as this. We were not approached as in the past, we offered to promote it and jumped at the chance when both Doug and Sue said YES! Completely renovated and rebuilt in 2005, this self contained chalet comprises of:
- Three double bedrooms, one with twin single beds.
- Large lounge / kitchen living area

- Separate luxury shower / toilet / vanity unit.
All decorated to a very high spec. and ideal for the less mobile / semi disabled angler or guest because it is situated on ground level with large entrance / less than 15 feet away from the waters edge.
Oh! Just one more item that you may find of interest, a large above ground swimming pool just outside your door. Ideal for those long hot summers we often get here in this area of France.
Sunbathing, swimming, fishing, that is all nicely private.
