Kingfisher Pools

Comprising of two pools, the upper pool is around 1.75 acres and the lower .75 acres. Both pools start at around 2 feet deep and slope off to around 9 feet in depth. The upper pool is sourced by a springs and stream inlets which then run into the lower pool. Both are tree lined which makes them ideal for stalking and as major underwater surgery has taken place, all lakes at Kingfisher Pools are now virtually snag-free. Built in 1969, these pools were not fished for over twenty years and still surprise us with original stock such as a 38lbs mirror gracing the banks.

The top pool is highly stocked with carp all reared by ourselves, ranging from around 12 lbs to mid forties, at least 15 carp over thirty pounds are present with an average fish weighing in at a very high 22 lbs. Catfish are also well represented and unlike most U.K. lakes (and many French ones!) these are very catchable simply because they are present in big numbers. Again all catfish have been reared from our own stock the oldest being just 7 years old and weighing in at 55+ lbs! Many thirties and forties are also just waiting to be caught.

The lower pool is stocked with carp between around 15lbs to 40lbs. This is a real carp purists delight, overhanging trees, ideal for float and floater fishing. 1960s carp fishing at it's very best. Only two cats here, one around 15lbs and one around 40lbs.

Catches here at Kingfisher Pools regularly exceed over 2000 lbs in one week, eight or nine thirty pound plus carp is quite usual along with perhaps three or four cats over thirty pounds. Where else could you find this?
