Angling rules and regulations from 1st January 2004

In order for you to understand our rules and regulations, you must first be aware that the fish, whatever species, Always come first - as do all wildlife and surroundings.


The fish contained in these lakes give pleasure to you the angler and we see no reason why their existence should be threatened or harm come to them in any way. The following are strict rules and checks will be made during your holiday to make sure they are carried out to the letter. We make no apologies as any reasonable angler will understand.

  1. Barbless hooks only for ALL species inc catfish and bream etc. Never use treble hooks.

  2. No sacking of any fish. Never sack Catfish. No keepnets except for roach, perch, bream, etc.

  3. No particle baits, nuts or dog food supplement is allowed. Trout pellets, sweetcorn, luncheon meat or Pedigree Chum mixer (used as floaters) are acceptable without problem.

  4. No fixed leads of any sort. So called "safe" rigs are okay providing the do fail safe please check with us.

  5. Minimum size landing net must be 42" and knotless.

  6. Minimum 12 BS line for carp or 25 BS for cat fishing. No restriction on small course fishing.

  7. No bent hooks or wire traces of any sort allowed

  8. No angler is allowed to be more than 10 metres from their rods if they are in the water.

  9. Never leave litter, inc. line, hooks, bottles, or cigarette butts. Use dustbins provided.

  10. Unhooking mat must always be used. Min size 4 ft x 2ft with 2" of cushion.

  11. Unhooking mats must be at least 4 feet long and 2 feet wide with at least 2" of cushion.

  12. All wildlife has total priority in or around the lakes.

  13. Three rod maximum is the limit per person max 12 rods per lake.

  14. No children under the age of 16 are allowed to night fish on their own at any lake. At all times a responsible adult must accompany them and have them sitting next to them.

  15. Never remove any overhanging branches from trees.

  16. No boats allowed on any lake except for our own rental rowing boats as reserved at the time of booking. (Bait boats are allowed without restriction) Life jackets are supplied on request at the time of arrival, if you do not ask for these we assume you do not require them. By signing our booking form you agree no liability can or will be placed on Personal-Best-Angling.com for any boating accident.

  17. We visit each lake daily where possible. At least once during these visits we will require one line to be removed from the water to check all rules are being adhered to. We deem the party leader (whoever signed the booking form) to be responsible for their party. Any breaking or bending of rules will lead to the instant termination of the whole groups holiday without recompense

  18. Never bivvy up on the drive at La Folie or on the grass by the chalet at Kingfisher Pools. Access must be observed at all times.

  19. We reserve the right of refusal to allow inferior quality boilies being used on our lakes. Please check prior to fishing.

  20. No barbed hooks are allowed onto any location not even in a tackle box. Barbless hooks means barbless! No micro barbs, no crushed barbs just standard barbless hooks as described on the packet at time of purchase. No excuses will be entertained and fishing will be stopped for whole party if any member if found to be breaking this rule.

  21. All naked flames are banned at all locations. Never bring candles as these constitute a serious fire hazard. NEVER bring a generator.

  22. Braid as main line is not allowed. Braid may be used only as a hook link. Or for markers

  23. Please note these rules are subject to change. Notification at least 28 days prior to departure will apply to tackle or method changes. Notification of minor points will be at time of your arrival. When in doubt, PLEASE ASK!

For the benefit of all

  1. Always park your vehicles in allocated areas according your lake. NEVER PARK IN SWIMS OR ON THE DRIVE.

  2. Never take bedding from the accommodation to the lakes you will forfeit your deposit!

  3. Never wander on other people's property and always obey the country code.

  4. Never leave litter and always use the bins provided at the lakes and at the accommodation.

  5. We allow glass bottles lakeside but it is your responsibility to dispose of these at the bottle banks. Never put these in the rubbish sacks.

  6. Please note these rules are subject to change. Notification at least 28 days prior to departure will apply to tackle / method changes. Notification of minor points will be at the time of your arrival. When in doubt PLEASE ASK!

Remember

Never visit the lakes you are fishing before or after your allocated holiday period. Each angler has the total right to privacy during their stay and this should be respected. All angling is undertaken after 6.00PM on the saturday of arrival until 8.00PM on the Friday prior to departure.

WATER IS DANGEROUS! ALWAYS HELP SOMEONE LESS SURE FOOTED THAN YOURSELF.
