The only carp that Personal-Best-Angling.com have purchased in the last nine years from outside sources have been to establish a completely different gene pool and minimising the risk of in-breeding. All Personal-Best-Angling.com carp and catfish have been farmed by ourselves. We specialise in particularly attractive strains of carp such as fully scaled mirrors, linear mirrors as well as commons.
All catfish are farmed on site and we consider ourselves to be perhaps the most experienced catfish breeders in France. How successful are we? Judge for yourself! La Folie was originally stocked in 1991 with two twenty plus pound mirrors and forty eight other carp between twelve to nineteen pounds. La Folie now has at least thirty thirties, seven forties, two fifties and a sixty! As far as we are aware this feat of growth rate has NEVER been achieved anywhere else in Great Britain or indeed in Europe.
We now have at least 150 carp from twenty to forty five pounds. We started catfish stocking in the lakes after special areas were built to encourage breeding in 1997. Forty cats were introduced. The stock is now around one hundred and eighty with the largest offspring weighing in at around 27 lbs in October 2002 . We have verified growth rates on some of our cats over six pounds per annum.
You cannot just make a hole, fill it with water and expect your fish to be healthy and grow like unfortunately many do! Experience and expertise count for everything. Don’t settle for anything less than the best and you the angler will benefit.
